Usain Bolt has revealed his desire to break more world records in 2014 after the Jamaican superstar was named World Athlete of the Year for the fifth time.
After another outstanding year which saw the 27-year-old pick up three gold medals during the World Championships back in August, Bolt hopes he can break his own 200m record of 19.19 seconds, and has made it his prime target for next season.
"That has always been my dream; that has always been my aim," he said after receiving the award in Monaco. "This season will be the season when I will be going for world records because there are no major [outdoor] championships.
"The 200m is much easier than the 100m to try for a record and that would be my main focus this season."
The sprinter won both 100m and 200m golds in Moscow back in August during the World Championships, as well as gold in the 100m relay, becoming the most successful athlete in the history of the competition.
Bolt held off competition from Britain’s Mo Farah, a double world champion himself, to win the award once again, while Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce made it a clean sweep for Jamaica after claiming the women’s award due to her success in the same three events.
