The Catalans cruised to victory over Granada with an inspired performance from Martino’s men.
Barcelona looked sharp without their main man, Lionel Messi as they defeated Granada 4-0 at Camp Nou. The Catalans looked sorted out with a host of their key players injured and showed their mettle with an emphatic win and gave a food for thought for their critics.
Barcelona took the lead through Iniesta in the 20th minute from the spot kick as Fabregas was brought down in the box. 20 minutes later Iniesta was brought down and Fabregas took the responsibility and scored. Alex Sanchez continued his goal-scoring form as he added the third in the 71st minute. Pedro rounded off the match with a simple finish to complete an impressive performance from the Catalans.
SUPERSTAR OF THE MATCH:
Neymar: The Brazilian didn’t get on the score sheet but managed to add flair and the attacking threat to the match with Lionel Messi on the sidelines. He again managed to cut through the defence a couple of times with his pace and assisted Sanchez for the third goal.
HEROES OF THE MATCH:
Fabregas: The midfielder has warmed the bench on many occasion while he could have been in the starting 11 of any Europe’s elite. With injury to key players, Fabregas was a sure starter and he didn’t disappoint. Scored the second goal from the spot-kick to cement the lead and assisted Pedro as Barcelona attacked on the break.
Alexis Sanchez: The Chilean has been on a goal-scoring spree for his club and country and added another to his tally in an impressive display in the 71st minute. He is tied with Pedro as the clubs second highest scorer this season with 11 goals behind Lionel Messi.
UNDER-ACHIEVERS OF THE MATCH:
Manual Iturra: The midfielder was undone by his two yellow cards, first in the 25th minute and the second in the 66th minute. After the dismissal, Granada were left with a mountain to climb as Barcelona took advantage of the numbers and added two more to the tally.
